PENTECOST AT PILGRIM

Discipleship

"Growing Strong, Going Deep, Reaching Out"

📖 Key Scripture:

Matthew 28:19–20 – “Go and make disciples of all nations…”
2 Timothy 2:2 – “Entrust these truths to faithful men who will be able to teach others also.”
John 15:8 – “Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit…”

A. The Purpose of Discipleship

 Matthew 28:19–20; Luke 6:40

  • What is discipleship, and how does it go beyond just attending church?
  • How did Jesus model discipleship in His ministry?
  • What does it mean to “make disciples” rather than just converts?

Key Point: Discipleship is about developing fully devoted followers of Christ who reflect His character, obey His commands, and reproduce their faith in others.

B. The Importance of Discipleship

Ephesians 4:11–15; Colossians 1:28

  • Why is discipleship essential for spiritual growth and maturity?
  • How does the absence of discipleship impact the church and the individual believer?
  • What is the difference between information and transformation?

Key Point: Without discipleship, believers remain spiritually immature, and churches become shallow and ineffective in fulfilling the Great Commission.

C. Why Should We Disciple Others?

 2 Timothy 2:2; Titus 2:3–5

  • Why is it every believer’s responsibility to help others grow?
  • What fears or excuses keep us from mentoring or guiding others?
  • How can discipleship take place in everyday life (not just in church)?

Key Point: Discipleship is not a program—it’s a lifestyle of multiplying faith, passing on what you’ve learned to help others walk with Christ.

D. The Impact of Discipleship in Our Community

Acts 2:42–47; Matthew 5:14–16

  • How can discipleship lead to stronger families, transformed neighborhoods, and healthier churches?
  • What are some needs in our community that could be addressed through discipleship (e.g., mentoring youth, supporting new believers, training leaders)?
  • How can Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church create a culture of intentional discipleship?

Key Point: When believers are discipled well, they go out and disciple others, serve the city, and become agents of community transformation.

Our Challenge

 “Be One, Build One”

  • Pray for intentional relationships, teachable hearts, and boldness to invest in others.
  • Commit to grow as a disciple by spending time in the Word and prayer—and identify one person you can begin pouring into spiritually.
